BRS Image Makeover: No Kavitha For Lok Sabha?

Kalvakuntla Kavitha, daughter of former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), will not be contesting in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

This decision was made as the BRS wanted to change its image of being a party run by only one family, which has been criticized by others.

Reports suggest that Kavitha will not be contesting in the Lok Sabha elections, following her defeat in the Nizamabad constituency against D Arvind of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2019.

Speculations about her running from Medak have been dismissed, as a collective decision has been reached by the BRS, following its previous move to nominate Vaddiraju Ravichandra for the Rajya Sabha seat held by KCR’s nephew Santosh Kumar.

The party also considered KCR’s son, KT Rama Rao, as a candidate, but this idea was rejected.

This move is seen as an attempt to improve the party’s public image after losing to the Congress in the previous year’s Assembly elections.

When the BRS was in power, Kavitha and KTR were always given a chance to contest the Lok Sabha elections, even when their chances of winning were low. But now, after the party’s defeat in the Assembly elections, this decision has been taken.

It remains to be seen who KCR will nominate for the Lok Sabha elections, as it will be challenging for the BRS to win seats without being in power in Telangana.

The BJP is expecting a direct battle with the Congress, as voters are likely to vote based on national issues.
