When you land in a foreign country where hardly anyone speaks your language or any language that you know, the most difficult job is to go through the immigration without any communication gap. Thanks to technology, we now have support through AI that helps travelers accessing the services in these foreign lands. A user on X shared his recent experience visiting China where the machine greeted and instructed the man in Hindi.
The X user from India shared the photo of a biometric device installed at the airport which instructed the visitor in Hindi. The post is going viral because of the broken Hindi used by the machine trying to translate the instructions. Some users are mocking it as China claims to be one of the global leaders in technology.
However, the main reason the post is going viral is not the ill attempt at Hindi but its very use. Netizens are targeting those who have attacked the use of Hindi in India. The comments mention the recent rift created in Karnataka against the Hindi speakers in the state and sarcastically questions it.
Some users tried to troll by asking if it is an imposition of Hindi on everyone. The use of foreign language at airports is not new and other airports at Singapore and Bangkok have also been using this technology but it is the first time that use of Hindi in a foreign country sparked a local debate in India.
