Delhi HC Orders Block on Piracy Websites

Piracy has been one of the major issues of the industry, continually hampering the success of shows and movies. OTT platforms require a subscription, but numerous sites illegally stream OTT shows online. To combat such activities, the Delhi High Court has ordered the blocking of these piracy websites.

Justice Sanjeev Narula has directed internet service providers and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to immediately block these websites. The order was issued following a complaint filed by Applause Entertainment, the company behind big shows like “Scam 1992,” “Bhaukaal,” “Hostages,” and others.

The company filed a suit over the illegal streaming of the much-anticipated season 3 of “Undekhi.” The show was available to stream illegally soon after its release on Sony LIV. The court has also instructed the producers to monitor and take action against mirror websites engaged in such activities.

Piracy is a crime that should be taken seriously, and this order by the Delhi High Court confirms that such illegal streaming will not be tolerated. We welcome your thoughts on this situation.
