A 9th standard girl was sexually assaulted several times by two men who claimed to be from the Telugu Film Industry. The incident took place under the Film Nagar police station limits. The case has raised serious concern.
The 13 year old girl was living with her grandmother. Assistant director Bandi Venkatashiva Reddy and cameraman Penikalapati Anil frequently visited their home. The duo, originally from Kadapa, were close to the grandmother.
They convinced the grandmother that the girl could get roles in serials and films if she befriended them. Trusting their claims, the grandmother persuaded the girl. The girl agreed because she trusted her grandmother.
The two men then sexually assaulted the girl multiple times. Realising she was being exploited, the girl informed her teacher. The teacher supported her and helped file a complaint.
Police registered a POCSO case against the grandmother and the two accused. All three were arrested as part of the investigation.
