A shocking jeweller scam has surfaced in Hyderabad’s Filmnagar. Jeweller Manik Chaudhary allegedly ran a large fraud under the guise of gold pledging. He took ornaments from customers as pledge but later refused to return them, creating panic among victims.
When people approached him to release their jewellery, Chaudhary reportedly collected money and falsely claimed the gold was safe in a bank locker. About a week ago, he suddenly shut his shop and went missing, leaving many customers devastated.
Filmnagar police have registered four cheating cases based on complaints. Investigations suggest Chaudhary not only cheated customers but also collected crores from friends and locals by offering high interest returns. Police have started a search to trace him.
The incident has caused outrage among victims who trusted him with their life savings or family jewellery. Police are also appealing for more victims to come forward. The scam highlights the risks of unregulated gold pledging and has raised concerns across the city.
