Motor Sports have never really been a popular thing in India. Lack of good roads, opportunities, heavy expenses, and most importantly discouragement from family. Obviously, most Indian parents would never allow their kids to engage in something so dangerous. But, conformities never create champions.
Wilson Racing, a big name in racing, has just made an exciting announcement! They’ve signed up Raheesh Khatri for the 2024 British Talent Cup season. This is a big deal because Raheesh is the first Indian racer to join this prestigious cup. So, naturally, there are high hopes. He’ll be competing against 30 top racers from different countries.
Raheesh will be representing Wilson Racing, a team with loads of experience led by Gary. He’ll be riding the Honda NSF250R bike. The season starts in Spain on April 20th and 21st, and then there will be 7 more rounds in the UK.
Raheesh’s journey to this point has been amazing. He started racing in motocross when he was just 6 years old, a mere kid and quickly became known as India’s youngest motocross racer. He’s won a ton of trophies and medals, including the 2022 Honda India Talent Cup.
Apart from the British Talent Cup, Raheesh will also race in the Honda Racing India Talent Cup, which has 5 rounds in India. He wants to win more championships like the Asia Talent Cup and the European Talent Cup. He also aims to be the first Indian to compete in the famous RedBull Rookies Cup and, eventually, hopes to race in the top-tier MotoGP.
Raheesh’s story might pave way for more and more Indians to follow motorsports. Only time will tell.
