Health Insurance Claim Denial Raises Questions on HDFC ERGO

Many people believe popular insurance companies like HDFC ERGO indulge in unfair practices during medical claim settlements. These companies appear reliable, but during real emergencies, patients and families often face serious difficulties and emotional stress.

Social media influencer Ajeet Bharti recently shared his personal experience. He said he had been paying rupees 48,000 every year since 2022 for his mother’s health insurance policy with HDFC ERGO, trusting the company to support his family when needed.

His mother was later diagnosed with liver cirrhosis, a serious and life threatening condition. She was admitted to a hospital and required proper medical treatment. All hospital records and reports clearly mentioned her diagnosis.

Despite this, the insurance company reportedly reduced the claim, stating the illness was only fever. As a result, the claim amount was settled at just rupees 54,000, leaving the family shocked and deeply disappointed.

The issue triggered strong reactions online. Many users said the government shows little interest in such cases. Even after tagging IRDA and the Department of Financial Services, policyholders claim meaningful action is rarely seen.

Several policyholders say such experiences damage trust. Many eventually choose to switch insurance providers, feeling let down during moments when support matters the most.
