The world of an athlete is a constant oscillation between victories and setbacks, but what sets one athlete apart from another is how they take their losses and work on bouncing back. Keeping that in mind, it is of no doubt that Serbian athlete Dejana Radanovic certainly doesn’t know how to take a loss, and will be blaming anyone and anything but herself.
The Serbian was in India for three weeks for 3 ITF events, with the last one being Mumbai Open. Dejana’s run ended as she lost to India’s Vaidehi Choudhary owing to which she put a series of stories that weren’t very pleasant.
Dejena took to Instagram and bid India adieu saying she’ll never ever come back and once she landed in Munich, she put up a Hello Civilization and added that only those who have survived India will know. The player further accused the country of having hygiene issues saying it had dirty linen and yellow pillows and food with worms. She was also shameless enough to claim that this wasn’t racism but just the things she had felt in the country.
As citizens of the nation, we all realize that we have many areas to develop on but being world’s largest vegetarian nation, we all know that the food with worms, and even the linen part are pure made up tantrums and excuses of a crying baby who didn’t get his favorite toy. Naturally, the player has been slammed across all social platforms, particularly X where she was criticized brutally.
One user said that while criticisms and awareness are a great thing there are some people like Dejena who are always high on their self loathing drug that they cannot even admit the obvious racist rants that they’ve screamed. Radanovic’s foolishness knew no ends as she went on to say that she’s not racist because she apparently made friends with a tuk-tuk driver, the equivalent of saying ‘I’m not racist because I have a black friend’.
The backlash the player has been subjected to is well justified and true. Demands are being made to WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) to bar Dejena for the racist behavior and the least should be AITA handing a permanent ban to her from playing any tournaments in India. Sports are a parcel of wins and losses and even the greatest have not gone invincible, and we end our report on a note of hope that this behavior doesn’t persist, and we all strive together for a world that is much better.
