Why this always happens is that when some say that they aren’t okay we use the phrase “This Shall Pass Too”, or “It’s So Common, you’ll get through this”.
India is a diverse country and we have diverse problems as well. Mental health issues are one of them.
A study says, India sees highest suicide rate in the world. According to a National Crime Records Bureau report released in April, 1.71 lakh people died by suicide in 2022 in India.
“The World”, people are dying because they aren’t heard? Or their problems were overlooked? Or another it was considered as “just a phase”.
The suicide rate has increased to 12.4 per 1,00,000, the highest rate ever recorded in India.
Depression, Anxiety is also a disease which harms the body the brain the cells and the result is suicide. It is high time people start understanding that being depressed is not a phase, it is a disorder, it is a problem.
Mental Health experts says that the few main reasons for attempting suicide can be the pressure of academics, work pressure or personal life pressure.
If we talk separately about each topic then we will see that the academic institutions are putting immense pressure on students. most of the colleges now have a criteria of having 75% attendance, moreover assignments, class tests, semester and if you fall behind you have to listen to taunts from several people saying, “You are not good enough”.
Corporate employees are always scared about whether tomorrow their job will stay or not. The immense day and night work pressure is turning humans into brainless zombies.
Once again it is high time that people should start listening to each other with a genuine ear, otherwise this rate ain’t going to come down soon.
So if you know someone who is going through something, please ask them whether they are okay or not, and try to be with them.
