India and Pakistan have had a strained diplomatic relationship for many years now. But over the course of time, numerous occasions have shown that India can set aside all differences wherever there is a need to set up as a responsible neighbour providing any help possible. This also includes military operations made in efforts to ensure safety of citizens.
The Indian Navy set a brave example of this tradition by rescuing 19 Pakistani crew members onboard a fishing vessel in the Gulf of Aden. All the crew members were on board an Iran flagged fishing boat which became the target of pirates.
The boat was attacked by the pirates in the East coast of Somalia. The country is famous for its pirates and the region has seen many incidents of pirate attacks on boats and vessels crossing the area.
Indian Navy’s INS Sumitra came to the rescue of the crew members of the vessel. INS Sumitra has been deployed in the region for ensuring maritime safety and preventing such pirate attacks in the particular region. The presence of the Indian Navy in the gulf waters has strategically helped a number of countries so far.
