A video of an Indian vlogger trying cobra meat dishes in Indonesia has gone viral, sparking mixed reactions online. The vlogger showcased dishes like “Cobra Pakode,” cobra blood, and noodles made from snake meat, leaving many Indian viewers shocked, amused, or reflective.
Some social media users took a humorous approach. Comments like, “Meri ex bhi hogi uske andar, dekho zara?” and “Mere dost yaha kya kar rahe hai?” compared the snakes to exes or friends, poking fun at their “venomous” nature.
Others joked, “Ek din waha jake inko dal chawal banana sikhaungi,” reacting to the unusual food choices. However, the video also started deeper conversations about animal welfare and cultural differences.
Many Indians pointed out the contrast between Indonesia’s culinary practices and India’s traditions, such as Nag Puja, where cobras are worshipped as sacred beings.
Some viewers raised concerns about the ethics of killing cobras, animals that are vital for maintaining ecological balance. They questioned whether such practices should continue, even if they are part of a culture.
The video highlighted how food traditions vary greatly across the world. While cobra meat is seen as a health booster in Indonesia, it challenges Indian sensibilities about respecting and protecting snakes.
This culture shock moment had garnered a lot of attention online. For some it might be funny, for others not so much. The question remains. Do you have the guts to snack on a snake?
