Indian Whiskey Overtakes Global Brands!

Aatmanirbhar Bharat is indeed becoming a reality. The latest addition to the list is the liquor industry.

In a recent report, Indian single malts have captured around 53 per cent of the total sales in 2023. The numbers are extremely impressive considering Indian brands grew by 23 per cent while the imported ones grew by only 11 per cent.

The top Indian brands were Paul John, Indri, and Amrut among others. The top imported brands include Macallan, Lagavulin, Talisker and Glenlivet.

The winner of this race is Indri. It was crowned the world’s best whisky in August 2023 during the Whiskies of the World Awards blind tasting.

This growth became possible due to an increase in drinking among the middle class that demands affordable liquors at a reasonable price, something that many of the foreign brands failed to achieve.
