The search giant unveiled its top trending searches for 2023, revealing a remarkable surge in interest for Indian cinema on the international stage.

“Jawan,” directed by Atlee and featuring the iconic Shah Rukh Khan, not only claimed the top spot in local searches in India but also positioned itself as the third most trending search worldwide. The film’s success is highlighted by its stellar box office performance, accumulating a worldwide collection of ₹1160 crore and garnering critical acclaim upon its release in September.

The top 10 most searched movies on Google in 2023 showcased a dynamic mix of global and local cinematic achievements. While Barbenheimer retained its position as the most searched film, “Jawan” stood out as a testament to the global appeal of Indian cinema, surpassing renowned international titles.

The cinematic landscape further witnessed the triumphant return of Shah Rukh Khan with “Pathaan,” securing the tenth position in the global searches. The film, which crossed the ₹1000 crore mark at the worldwide box office early in the year, showcased the enduring popularity of the Bollywood superstar.
