A courtroom is supposed to be a safe place where justice can be served in a non-hostile environment. But what if the person delivering justice themselves isn’t safe in the very room they work in. A judge in the state of Las Vegas, USA was attacked by a convicted felon during a hearing which resulted in many injuries.
The video of the incident is going viral and has raised concerns around safety in judicial spaces where potential threats are part of the proceedings. In the video, the man can be seen running and jumping over the bench to attack the judge taking her down on the floor.
Marshalls and others in the room immediately came to the rescue but they had to try very hard to get the man away from the judge. In the process, one of the marshalls also got injured.
The man had pleaded guilty in November and was going to be sentenced soon. He is a three time felon and had been arrested before. He has also served a year in jail before.
Fresh charges of battery and battery on a protected person are laid on him. He is now due in court on Thursday. The man is currently locked in Clark County jail.
