Dogs and humans have been living in harmony for centuries now. But every now and then, there seems to be an imbalance in this relationship, usually caused by an act of distrust. An accident in Delhi has highlighted the rising issue of dog attacks. A 7 year old girl was attacked by a dog from the neighborhood when she went out to play with her friends.
The incident took place in Delhi’s Rohini where a young girl sustained critical injuries because of the dog attack. According to the report, the young girl was playing outside her house when the neighbor’s dog, an American Bulldog attacked her. The attack took place on the 9th of January.
The girl’s father reported the incident on whose basis a case has been registered under the sections 289/337 of Indian Penal Code. The people from the locality also staged a protest highlighting the problem faced by them.
Stray dog and pet dog attacks have increased over the past few months and raises serious concern for public safety. Negligent pet owners’ denial to take responsibility for their dog’s actions is another part of the problem.
