A tragic incident in Mathura has taken the lives of more than 10 devotees from Punjab. The group had come with faith, chanting “Radhe Radhe,” but their journey ended in sorrow. The steamer they were travelling in was packed beyond its safe capacity, and none of the passengers were wearing life jackets. The boat suddenly capsized, leading to panic and loss of lives.

This accident shows clear negligence. The boat operator allowed more people than permitted. Authorities also failed to enforce basic safety rules. If proper checks were in place, this could have been avoided.

Such incidents are not new. A similar tragedy in Kerala claimed over 20 lives due to overcrowding. During Hajj too, accidents have taken many lives. These are not about religion, but about safety failures.

People are also reacting emotionally, blaming faith. But God has given humans the ability to think and act wisely. Wearing life jackets and following rules is a human responsibility.

Strict laws, proper checks, and awareness can prevent such tragedies. May the departed souls rest in peace.

Boatman Pappu Nishad has been arrested. He did not provide life jackets to any of the passengers. Meanwhile, the Army has retrieved the sunken boat from the Yamuna River late last night. So far, 11 people have died in this accident, and 4 are still missing.
