A strange lawsuit filed against McDonald’s has been dismissed by a judge in California State Court.
McDonald’s was sued by Allen Media Group over the charges of making false promises that it failed to uphold. The fast food giant had made a promise to increase its advertising budget with Black-owned media outlets. The promise came after the BLM movement in the form of a press release. Allen Media Group has sued McDonald’s at the Federal court for another $10 billion alleging racial discrimination in its advertising practices.
The $100 million suit got dismissed, still Allen Media Group is not happy with it and plans on challenging the verdict.
Companies make outrageous promises to tap in the ongoing trends in pop culture and the promise made by McDonald’s might have been one of those incidents. But, Allen Media Group cited Civil Code (section) 1711, that prohibits companies from making false promises to the public.
