The doctor in Karnataka got fired from his job for using the operation theatre at the Bharamasagara Government Hospital for his pre-wedding photoshoot. The pics that had gone viral on the internet revealed him and his fiance posing as if they were operating on a patient. The event led to public outcry and the authorities rebuked the hospital premises’ misuse and medical ethics violations.
Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao terminated the doctor and warned other doctors and staff not to do such things. He said:” Public hospitals are there to cater to the needs of the people not for personal affairs. I will not condone such indiscipline.”
The pre-wedding photoshoot is a fashion among couples in India, and they mostly select exotic or unusual locations for their photos. It is also an example of how people are ready to do anything for social media fame, not paying attention to the outcome of what they do.
A profession like medicine is very demanding of dedication, sympathy, focus and precision and a doctor with zero ethics and etiquette only thinks of himself and loses the system and their patients’ trust. Such doctors should be made to face the consequences of their carelessness.
