The first poster and teaser of Mahakavya Shri Ramayan Katha have been released. While the film has generated excitement, it has also triggered a debate across social media. Many users have shared mixed reactions to the teaser and its presentation.
Directed by Abhishek Singh, the film stars Dev Sharma as Shri Ram. It also marks Anjali Arora‘s feature film debut as Mata Sita. Produced by Prakash Mahobiya and Sanjay Bundela, the film is set to release in Hindi and Chhattisgarhi on September 25, 2026.
Soon after the teaser was released, several viewers questioned the casting of Anjali Arora as Mata Sita. Many social media users said her earlier popularity through the viral Kacha Badam trend and reality shows made her an unexpected choice for the role.
Much of the criticism has centred on the belief that characters like Mata Sita require a dignified image, emotional depth and strong screen presence. Some viewers also criticised the teaser’s performances and visual presentation. Others compared it with earlier adaptations of the Ramayana.
Opinions on the teaser remain divided. While some appreciated the effort to present the Ramayana to a younger audience, others expressed concerns about the casting and the overall execution of the film.
The debate comes at a time when several Ramayana-based films are being developed. Namit Malhotra’s Ramayan also faced criticism over the casting of Sai Pallavi as Sita. Earlier, Adipurush received similar backlash, with Kriti Sanon drawing criticism for portraying the character.
Now, Anjali Arora finds herself facing similar scrutiny. Whether the casting decision proves successful will become clear after the film reaches theatres. The audience’s final verdict will be known when the movie releases.
