In a recent event, a man of Indian origin named Amal Reji has been arrested for allegedly shooting his pregnant wife. The event took place at a church parking lot in Chicago and has left the local community in shock.
Amal is a native of Pazhayambilli near Ettumannur, Kottayam and had married his wife, Meera in 2019 and the couple had been living in the US for the past six years. Amal and Meera have a 4-year-old daughter and were expecting a second child in 7 months’ time.
As per the reports, Meera was shot at close range around 10pm on Tuesday, with the husband aiming for the stomach and her mouth. She was immediately shifted to the Lutheran Hospital in Chicago where she is undergoing treatment, with her condition remaining critical due to excessive bleeding and a hemorrhage in the stomach.
With a social media status posted by Amal surfacing, family problems are suspected to be the main reason behind the incident. In the video posted by him, Amal is heard accusing Meera’s brother of causing friction in their relationship. Meera also has a twin sister named Meenu who is staying near to their house in Chicago.
