Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has taken a significant step forward by partnering with Swiggy Foods to enhance the dining experience of train passengers.
Under this partnership, Swiggy will extend its delivery services to train travelers, ensuring timely and hassle-free delivery of meals at competitive rates.
Initially launching at key stations including Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Vijayawada, and Visakhapatnam, this initiative will eventually cover over 60 stations, catering to passengers’ diverse culinary preferences.
The recent wave of complaints on social media regarding the appalling quality and hygiene standards of food served on Indian trains paints a stark picture of the challenges faced by passengers.
From foul-smelling meals on Vande Bharat Express to sightings of spoiled Amul yogurt and even a disturbing encounter with a dead cockroach, these incidents underscore the urgent need for a revamp in railway catering services.
The evident lack of maintenance and hygiene in onboard pantries only exacerbates concerns, leaving passengers wary of the food they consume during their journeys.
However, the collaboration between Swiggy and IRCTC emerges as a beacon of hope for train travelers. Now, passengers embarking on long journeys can take solace in the fact that they have the option to order food from trusted restaurants via IRCTC’s e-catering portal.
With Swiggy’s reputation for prompt delivery and adherence to stringent quality standards, the risk of encountering unhygienic or unsatisfactory meals is significantly reduced.
