Thugs Earn Crores Through Fake Toll Plaza

Morbi-Fake-Toll-Plaza

We shouldn’t comment on people getting more intelligent, as that is a field of science. However, when it comes to committing crimes, individuals are becoming more ‘artistic’ and innovative. This time, Gujarat, one of the most important business hubs, finds itself at the center of an innovative scam.

A fraudulent toll plaza was constructed on private land in Morbi, Gujarat, bypassing a national highway. Operating on closed White House Ceramic Company property, scammers charged commuters 50% of the regular toll, ranging from Rs 20 to Rs 200, compared to the actual toll tax of Rs 110 to Rs 595 for car owners to heavy truck drivers.

According to official reports, they managed to collect a whopping 75 Crores in the name of road tax.

Upon receiving information about a toll scam in Varghasia, Gujarat, authorities, including the police and District Collector GT Pandya, reached the site to investigate. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and plaza manager had previously alerted the police about the fraud.

Commuters remained silent as they were allowed to proceed after paying half the toll. A complaint has been filed against the White House Ceramic Company owner and associates.
