In a concerning turn of events, an FIR has been registered against the director of an OTT project whose shoot was taking place on Madh Island.
The allegations filed against the show’s lead producer and director included charges of severe crimes like molestation and criminal intimation and if found guilty, could result in a severe legal punishment. As per the initial information, the victim is a 21-year actress and had to go through the living hell that Madh Island had become for her and face these incidents during a shoot.
The woman had allegedly given a written complaint to the Malwani Police stating how during the shoot the director groped her and went on to threaten destroying her career if she thinks of reporting the incident. The woman however, left the shooting midway and did the right thing to do.
The claims though, are still mere allegations and have the slight chance of being false, especially in a time when celebrities like Poonam Pandey are pulling off publicity stunts like faking their own deaths. As for further information, the woman had auditioned for the film in the beginning of the year and after her signing, the project started shooting its bungalow sequence with a total of 2 days assigned for it.
Since the prelim enquiry and collecting valuable information from the eye-witnesses, a police officer offer reported that they have filed a FIR against the accused, with some of the implied sections being 354 and 506 (outraging modesty of a woman and criminal intimidation respectively). The working conditions for women in India, albeit improving, are still a long way from where they need to be, and incidents like these keep reminding us why.
