‘We’re Sorry’: Thieves Return Stolen National Award!

A recent trend has been going on where netizens say “India isn’t for beginners” and rightly so, for every few days the nation comes across peculiar and bizzare incidents, and this time it’s a story of thieves returning their prestigious loot to the rightful owner, 2 national awards at that.

The incident is from the residence of popular film director M. Manikandan’s house in Madurai. Manikandan had left his house for a few days as he and his family paid a trip to Chennai, leaving his dog with caretakers who later discovered the theft that bad taken place the next day.

As per the reports, the perpetrators made away with a substantial amount of both cash and gold, however, a few days afterwards they returned perhaps the most valuable piece they had gotten their hands on, 2 National Film Awards which the director had won for ‘Kaaka Muttai’ and ‘Kadaisi Vivasaayi’ in 2015 and 22 respectively. The thieves also left a note saying that they were sorry and how the director’s achievements were his hard work and his alone.

Despite this noble act, the gold and approximate 1 lakh rupees they had stolen are still unheard of, adding a layer of irony to the incident. The police have now intensified their efforts in recovering the valuable belongings of the family, and also catch the individuals responsible for this haywire of an incident.
