Tata Group is set to continue its title sponsorship for the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2024 to 2028, sealing a groundbreaking deal worth Rs 2,500 crore. This record-breaking sponsorship amount has etched its name in IPL history as the highest ever.
IPL Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal highlighted the global resonance and appeal of IPL in the sporting arena. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah emphasized that this substantial financial commitment underscores the IPL’s scale and international influence.
The upcoming IPL in 2024 is poised to feature 74 matches, with plans to ramp it up to 84 in 2025 and 94 in 2027. Tata Group, exercising its first right of refusal, matched Aditya Birla Group’s bid of Rs 500 crore per year.
Tata Group’s investment surpasses Vivo’s bid for 2018-22 by 13.7%. Tata Group stepped into the IPL arena in 2020, replacing Vivo amid geopolitical tensions. Notably, they took up the title sponsorship for 2022 and 2023, paying Rs 670 crores.
