RCB Star vs BCCI: Comeback Dream Shattered!

Bhuvneshwar Kumar comeback

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has opened up about his dream of wearing the India jersey again. In a recent interview with Dainik Jagran, the veteran pacer spoke about his focus, fitness, and hope.

“The selectors will tell you that. My job is to give my 100% on the field and I am doing that,” he said. “If I get to play Mushtaq Ali, Ranji or one-day matches for UP, I’ll give my best there too. As a disciplined bowler, my focus is on fitness and line-and-length. Sometimes, luck doesn’t favour you, no matter how well you perform.”

Bhuvi’s Words Reflect His Resolve

At 35, with no India appearance since 2022, many wonder if a comeback is realistic. His hunger remains, but time may not be on his side.

Bhuvneshwar’s honesty and calm demeanour have earned him respect over the years. However, international cricket rarely waits.

His Career Stats Speak Volumes

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has 141 ODI wickets and 91 in T20Is. He is India’s second-highest wicket-taking pacer in T20 internationals.

In the IPL 2024 auction, RCB picked him up for ₹10.75 crore after SRH let him go. He delivered 17 wickets in 14 matches, helping RCB win their maiden IPL title.

Leading in Domestic Circuits

He’s not done yet. In the UP T20 League, he’s leading Lucknow Falcons, guiding them to the playoffs with 9 wickets. In 2023, he became the first Indian pacer to reach 300 T20 wickets.

Clearly, Bhuvneshwar is still giving it everything.

Swing Was His Superpower

Yet, this is where the harsh truth creeps in. Swing was Bhuvneshwar’s greatest strength. But in chasing pace, he lost that sharp swing.

Without it, he becomes just another medium pacer and that makes things tough in a packed Indian pace lineup.

India’s Current Pace Attack Is Set

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, and other young quicks are already leading the way. The BCCI seems to have moved on, and the doors to India’s XI may be shut.

No matter how strong the performances in leagues, the selectors don’t seem keen to revisit the past.

Time to Embrace a New Role?

Fans still admire his discipline, work ethic, and humility. But Bhuvneshwar must ask himself a hard question: Is the comeback dream still worth chasing?

Sometimes, walking away gracefully and passing on wisdom can be even more powerful.

His Legacy Is Already Secure

Bhuvneshwar Kumar will always be remembered as the swing king from Meerut. The man who dismantled top batters with accuracy and calmness.

But maybe now, instead of chasing selection, it’s time to guide the next generation. Because true greatness lies in knowing when to let go.
