
Usually, the IPL season peaks during the closing stages of the tournament. This is generally due to the fact that all the teams are fighting desperately for the playoffs position.

But that is not even remotely the case this year as the race for the knockout has been sorted out already. The top four teams, namely, Bengaluru, Gujarat, Punjab, and Mumbai have all qualified for the next stage while the rest have been eliminated.
The detrimental point here is that the qualification race has been completed with nearly a week of the league stage games left.

What this essentially means is that the rest of the games in the league stages are nothing but dead rubber. They will not have any sort of consequence on the actual outcome of the play of phrase, there is absolutely no stake on the upcoming games.
Cricket fans must now sit through these games, which will go on till May 27 without any sort of interest. This is not something that we usually associate with the IPL as the qualification race will generally be active event in the very last game of the group stage.

But strangely enough, the qualification race got sorted out much advance this year.
The group stage games will go on till May 27, and the knockout will be starting from 29th. The final match is scheduled to be held on June 3.
