Disney+Hotstar’s Record-Breaking T20 WC Revenue

Disney Star’s ad revenue for the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is projected to reach between Rs 1200 crore and Rs 1500 crore across both TV and digital platforms, a substantial increase from last year’s Rs 1000 crore.

This year’s T20 World Cup features a record 20 teams and 55 games. According to industry sources, Disney Star has secured 59 categories of advertisers, marking a 70% increase from the previous T20 World Cup.

Impressively, 37 of these categories are new, including sectors like adhesives, banking, biscuits, building materials, credit cards, e-commerce, eyewear, fans, ice cream, lubricants, and mattresses.

Initially, the excitement for the T20 World Cup was quite less compared to last season, but it has since picked up, with ad revenues expected to be 10-15% higher.

Disney Star began the season with 19 sponsors but expanded this list to include major brands like P&G, Google, Colgate, AMFI, Ultratech, Amazon, Whisper, and Grasim Birla, leveraging growing interest in the tournament.

Free mobile streaming on Disney+ Hotstar has further boosted viewership.

The India-Pakistan match drew 2.9 crore peak viewers on Disney+ Hotstar, surpassing the 2022 World Cup but falling short of the 2023 World Cup due to rain delays.
