The Indian team in WCL seems to have taken a stand for itself as multiple legends like Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, Yusuf Pathan and Irrfan Pathan have decided to pull out of the upcoming game against Pakistan.
This act has been a prioritisation of national interests over entertainment, ultimately leading to the match itself getting called off.
While a stand is being taken for small leagues like the WCL, the BCCI, on the other hand, continues to be confused about whether it wants India to face Pakistan or not.
It doesn’t look like the so-called all-powerful board really wants to put national sentiments over monetary benefits at all.
If it wanted, a clear decision would already have been taken regarding the Asia Cup and the rest of the World Cups.
But it has not been so. India is set to play Pakistan in such international tournaments, despite the BCCI having enough power to sway the decisions in its favour.
It can only be hoped that our cricketing board finally realises the importance of putting national stance over entertainment and works to clear the ICT’s stance over the same.
