CSK vs DC IPL 2025

Delhi Capitals continued their domination in IPL 2025 as they remained unbeaten, handing CSK a third straight loss in the tournament. This marked another historic victory: after RCB, now DC breached the fortress at Chepauk after 15 years.

As is always the case with CSK matches, all eyes were on MS Dhoni. After facing criticism for batting at the tail-end, the fans finally got to see Thala at no. 7 for the longest time as he walked down on the pitch in the 11th over.

However, despite the required rate steeply rising from 11 to 20+, Dhoni failed to hit any boundaries when it mattered.

On the other hand, the DC wicket-keeper, KL Rahul showed his class. Picking up his form from the Champions Trophy, Rahul smashed a brilliant 77 off 51 balls while opening the batting.

The Capitals continued their domination with the CSK’s top order crumbling like a house of cards, leaving no fight in the game.

Vijay Shankar, despite scoring 69* off 54 balls, faced the wrath of fans for an extremely dull knock and lacking any intent to win. DC missed 4 chances to get him out which was humorously speculated as a deliberate attempt to keep the run rate low.

Shankar and Dhoni never got out, but that partnership became a bane for their team rather than an advantage as both the batsmen never got going. Dhoni failed to leave a mark yet again and it is becoming apparently clear he is losing his mojo on the field.

What is heartbreaking is that Dhoni could’ve had a fairy tale ending to his career when CSK became the champions for a record 5th time in 2023. He could continue to contribute to the side by being a mentor like Sachin, Ganguly, and Gambhir but playing for the team is ruining his legacy.

The fans are disappointed to see the tragic fall of their favorite star, from once great finisher to now a burden for CSK. With retirement rumors looming large, it is more than likely that this is Dhoni’s last run between the 22 yards.
