The mega auction of the Indian Premier League 2025 is around the corner and all 10 teams are busy preparing their retention lists. The BCCI has given October 31st as the deadline to submit retention lists.

All teams are retaining their star players but we hear that Lucknow Super Giants is going to omit its incumbent captain and marquee player, KL Rahul.

Rahul is one of the most talented cricketers of this generation but his inconsistent form has been damaging his career in both international format and in the IPL.

When LSG was formed in 2022, Rahul was traded from Punjab for a huge price. In 2022 and 2023, he led the team to the playoffs. However, the 2024 season was a disaster for LSG as it ended up in seventh position.

According to the latest reports, LSG’s head coach Justin Langer and mentor Zaheer Khan analysed the players’ statistics and found out that LSG lost most of the matches when Rahul took a long time to settle his innings.

T20 is evolving every year and playing such slow knocks to build innings is not acceptable anymore, especially with the impact player rule in place. Thus, we hear that the management of LSG has decided to leave Rahul.

Things have not been well between Rahul and LSG since IPL 2024. A video of LSG owner Sanjeev Goenka shouting at Rahul after LSG lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in a game went viral on social media. Since then, it has been widely assumed that he will be omitted from the team.

Now, it looks like rumours are coming true. It has to be seen which other team will buy Rahul if he enters the mega auction. Considering his incredible IPL record, we can expect him to go for a huge amount if he is in the auction.
