Fundamentally speaking, Ahmedabad is not a Cricket Heritage city like a Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad or Bengaluru. The crowds here do not appear to be very supportive of the game.
This was already observed in the case of the World Cup final in 2023, as there were several complaints about the lack of support from the crowds at the stadium.

For instance, an IPL final in any of the above mentioned four stadiums will be packed with enthusiastic and encouraging crowds. This was observed multiple times in the past.
But this Ahmedabad Stadium, despite its large infrastructure, often comes up with vacant seats, which is not a good sign for a mega game like the IPL final.
There is no offence to the crowds here, which might be a result of the demographic and their passion towards the game. But holding an IPL final in a cricket heritage city like Mumbai or Bengaluru is a far better option.
