Kavya Maran reacts to SRH’s IPL journey and internet fame.

Every IPL match has its share of action on and off the field. And one constant we’ve grown used to is Kavya Maran on our screens.

No matter where she sits front row in Hyderabad or tucked away in a corner in Ahmedabad the camera always manages to find her.

In her own words:
“Even when I go to Ahmedabad or Chennai and I’m sitting many feet away, somewhere in the box, the cameraman manages to find me.”

Her expressions joy, tension, disappointment have become social media moments.

Memes follow minutes after a match begins. But behind those reactions is a fan, an owner and someone deeply tied to her team’s performance.

“I Wear My Heart on My Sleeve”. Kavya Maran, CEO and co-owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad, is not just present for the sake of appearances.

Her emotions are as real as the game itself. Speaking to Fortune India, she opened up about how closely she feels connected to the team.

“Those are my raw emotions that you’re seeing because my job has brought me to the point that I have to put myself out there. In Hyderabad I can’t do anything; I have to sit there. That’s the only place I can sit,” she explained.

And most importantly, she added,
“When it comes to Sunrisers, I genuinely wear my heart on my sleeve. I think when you put your heart and soul into something you naturally tend to get very personally attached to its successes and failures.”

That attachment is visible every time the camera cuts to her and fans see not just a team owner but someone who lives every moment with the players.

Since 2023, Kavya has been the face of SRH’s rollercoaster ride. That year despite a strong auction strategy the team finished at the bottom of the table a tough blow for a squad that looked good on paper.

In 2024 SRH bounced back in style. They finished second in the league and reached the IPL final. It was clear the team was moving in the right direction under new leadership and planning.

2025 didn’t go as planned. Despite having a good squad and a passionate fanbase SRH managed only 6 wins in 14 games.

They missed the playoffs again and fans were left wondering what went wrong. But Kavya didn’t miss a beat. She was there throughout cheering, reacting and supporting the team no matter the result.

SRH has had a mixed IPL but Kavya’s leadership in SA20 has been a success. She also heads the Sunrisers Eastern Cape franchise and under her they are back to back champions.

The team led by Aiden Markram won the SA20 in 2023 and 2024. It’s a quieter story but a big one showing Kavya can build winning teams across leagues and continents.

In the age of social media, her expressions have taken on a life of their own. Whether she’s watching the final overs nervously or celebrating a wicket, fans turn those moments into memes in real time.

But what people see is real. Kavya isn’t trying to go viral she just can’t hide what she feels.

Her presence in the stadium isn’t just symbolic. It’s emotional. It’s intense. And for many fans it’s relatable.

SRH has won the IPL only once in 2016. Since then the team has come close but hasn’t won again. But with a loyal core, rising young players and an owner who is all in the belief is still alive.

Kavya Maran will be there in 2026 heart on sleeve, eyes on the field. The cameraman will find her. The fans will cheer. And maybe just maybe the trophy will come back to Hyderabad.
