KL Rahul Following Dhoni’s Footsteps? Here’s The Big Reason

KL Rahul Equals Dhoni's No. 5 Record

KL Rahul has once again given Indian cricket fans a reason to revisit an old debate can he be considered better than MS Dhoni as an ODI middle order batter and finisher?

Rahul scored an unbeaten 129 off just 87 balls in the third ODI against West Indies, helping India recover from a shaky start and post 351/7.

He reached his ninth ODI century in 80 balls and finished the innings in style, hitting nine fours and three sixes.

The innings has also sparked an underrated opinion on social media, with some fans suggesting that Rahul has been a better middle order batter and finisher than Dhoni in ODIs.

Rahul has often played different roles for India, but his performances at No.5 have made the comparison even more interesting.

Dhoni, meanwhile, remains one of India’s most successful ODI finishers and played a major role in India’s 2011 World Cup winning campaign.

Rahul has not yet reached that level of achievement, but his numbers and performances in the middle order have kept the debate alive.

With Rahul still playing international cricket, the comparison could become even bigger if he finishes his career with a World Cup winning campaign.
