India U19 completed a dominant 10 wicket win over Australia U19 in the second Youth Test in Ahmedabad, but the result was followed by a major security scare at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
A bomb threat was received via email while both teams were still at the venue, with the authorities later confirming that it was a hoax.
The threat email was received around 11 am, shortly before the match ended at around 11:15 am. A Cyber Cell team immediately reached the stadium to investigate the matter.
The players were not initially informed about the threat and continued with the match before both teams were later made aware of the situation.
India and Australia players left the stadium around 1 pm after following the required security protocols. The Gujarat Cricket Association had informed the local police as soon as the threat was received.
GCA secretary Anil Patel also confirmed that similar incidents had taken place during the 2023 World Cup and IPL in the past.
The Narendra Modi Stadium was not the only location to receive such an email. The Gujarat High Court and several schools and colleges in Ahmedabad also received similar threats.
The security scare came after India U19 had wrapped up a one sided match against Australia U19. Debutant Tanmay Baloda was the standout performer, taking 14 wickets in the match as India won by 10 wickets and completed a 2-0 series win. Both teams eventually left the venue safely after the security checks were completed.
