Opinion: Sunrisers Hyderabad Must Start Valuing Vizag!

Technically speaking, Andhra Pradesh is not having any representation in the IPL. However, it can be regarded that Sunrisers Hyderabad is a team that represents the Telugu community and that it is how it is.

However, when it comes to actual representation, it needs to be said that Andhra Pradesh is lacking. This is where a proactive measure from Sunrisers Hyderabad can come along way.

Incidentally, Delhi Capitals held their opening home game of the season at the famous Vizag International Stadium last night, and it was an epic IPL clash.

It is very good that Delhi Capitals put the thought and execution to bring the IPL to Vizag and have their representation here. The stadium was packed with fans, and also the pitch that was curated for the game was the very best of the season till now.

Subsequently, IPL produced its best game of the season in Vizag last night, and it has set a new precedent now after a flurry of one sided matches.

Considering the kind of Telugu support and the top grade international Stadium that is available in Vizag, it is a matter of time before Sunrisers Hyderabad starts to contemplate this option.

This is a brilliant way for Sunrisers Hyderabad to include the Vizag and the subsequent Andhra Pradesh community into their own fandom. It must be more like a generic Telugu team, and the only way that can be achieved by bringing home games to Vizag.

It is a fact that having two homeground is not available option for any IPL team. But at the same time, having two or three games in Vizag per season is not going to harm Hyderabad at all.

This is a serious choice that Hyderabad must be considering if the franchise intends to have the overall support of the Telugu community. It would be a largely inclusive operation as well, which could further propagate the sport in Andhra Pradesh.
