The redemption arc of Shreyas Iyer, both as a player and as a captain, has been nothing short of legendary.
Ever since being dropped from BCCI’s central contract, Shreyas has gone on to prove himself time and time again, making it clear that a player of his calibre needs to be respected as much as any other.
It all started as he led his team to victory in the 2024 Ranji Trophy. Since then, he went on to win both the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy as well as IPL for his respective teams, leading both as a captain from front and centre.
Not only that, he even etched his name in Golden letters in the Irani Trophy while making his worth known by playing miraculous innings in the 2025 Champions Trophy for India.
He was bought for Rs.26.75 Crores by PBKS, where he is proving himself yet again by becoming the only captain to lead three different IPL teams into the finals.
Not only that, he has also become the only captain to defeat MI whilst chasing a 200+ score in the IPL.
He has won 50 matches out of the 86 that he has played during the IPL, leaving no room for doubt regarding his leadership capabilities.
With such a massive resume to show for himself, it will be interesting to see if the BCCI finally values Shreyas for the gem that he is, giving him a leadership role in the Indian Team.
