
In a recent interview ahead of Baby John’s release, Atlee and Varun Dhawan shared insights into their collaboration and the director’s creative choices.
Atlee recalled casting Thalapathy Vijay as an elderly man in Bigil, where Vijay initially questioned whether he should take on the role of Rayappan, an older character. Atlee emphasized that they’ve always taken experimental risks, which have worked well for both of them.

Atlee also shared an anecdote about Jawan, where he said to Shah Rukh Khan that his Vikram Rathore character will be the ultimate mass character. Initially, SRK disagreed, thinking his character, Azad, was more mass friendly. However, after seeing the film, SRK accepted Atlee was right.
Atlee also revealed that Vijay was unsure of playing a father to a 6-year-old girl in Theri.

Atlee is gearing up for Baby John, which he’s producing. The action thriller, directed by Kalees, is an adaptation of Theri and stars Varun Dhawan in the lead, alongside Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Jackie Shroff.
The film, set to release on December 25, 2024, will also feature a special cameo by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan.
