Old Project, New Headache: 20 Cr Legal Shock to Dhanush

Dhanush legal notice controversy news

Kollywood actor Dhanush, who is currently awaiting the release of his film Kara and has several projects in his lineup, is now facing trouble due to a legal dispute. The issue is linked to an old film commitment.

According to reports, Tamil production house Thenandal Films has sent a legal notice to Dhanush. The banner is demanding 20 crores related to the long pending project Naan Rudhran. The film was originally signed by the actor in 2016.

The production house has reportedly alleged breach of commitment. So far, Dhanush has not responded publicly to the notice. The development has drawn attention from industry circles in Kollywood.

In 2016, Dhanush began directing Naan Rudhran with a cast that included Nagarjuna, Srikanth and Aditi Rao Hydari. After a few months of shooting, the project was shelved. No further updates were shared about the film later.

A few years ago, the same issue reportedly put Dhanush close to receiving a red card from the producers’ council. The matter was resolved at that time. Now, the dispute appears to have resurfaced again.

Trade experts suggest that resolving the issue may require either refunding the amount or working on a film under Thenandal Films banner. There has been no official clarification from Dhanush yet. The situation may become clearer in the coming days.
