Immortal Public Talk: Did Director Waste Unique Script?

Kollywood film Immortal starring G V Prakash Kumar and Kayadu Lohar in the lead roles and directed by Mariyappan Chinna, was released in theatres yesterday and is receiving mixed responses from audiences and critics.

For the last few weeks, because of controversies regarding Kayadu Lohar purposely not promoting the film despite it being the first movie she signed in Kollywood, Immortal gained decent pre-release buzz.

However, after watching the film, while some people suggest that Immortal is a solid thriller film with a fresh plot, praising G V Prakash Kumar and Kayadu Lohar by claiming that both delivered their best performances, others are sharing negative responses.

They note that even though the plot of Immortal is different and represents a unique attempt made in Kollywood with solid technical work and VFX, the poor screenplay makes the film feel draggy and stretched in many places.

Additionally, they suggest that if director Mariyappan Chinna had delivered a better screenplay, Immortal would have emerged as a surprise blockbuster success, claiming that the director wasted a potential plot.

Despite the mixed reactions to the film, everyone who has watched it has appreciated G V Prakash Kumar for choosing this unique script and claimed that Kayadu Lohar delivered her career-best acting performance in the film.
