Recently, Kamal Haasan stated in an interview that he and Rajinikanth are planning to act together in a movie. Rajinikanth has reportedly asked him not to approach outside producers for this project, suggesting it should be produced by either Kamal Haasan himself or Rajinikanth.

Following this, Kamal Haasan expressed his desire to showcase the potential of his production house, Raaj Kamal Films International, by producing Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam. Therefore, the collaborative project with Rajinikanth may happen soon.
