Kanguva: Suriya Delivers a True-Blue Disaster

Suriya pinned a lot of hopes on Kanguva to deliver the first pan-India big hit from the Tamil industry, especially since Shankar’s Robo was the only pan-India hit from the industry.

However, Kanguva was trashed right from the very first shows and never recovered.

Suriya’s lack of box-office pull also became evident, as he couldn’t save the film in any territory.

The Telugu states recorded negligible shares, and the talk in the trade is that it’s an outright disaster.

Even in North America, Kanguva faced outright rejection, not just from Telugu or Hindi audiences, but also from Tamil audiences, who skipped the film.

Kanguva is likely to close below $1 million in the U.S., far from breaking even, making it a true-blue disaster for Suriya.
