Karthi, after the success of Meiyazhagan, is now acting as the lead in two projects: Sardar 2, directed by P.S. Mithran, and a sea-based period film directed by Tamizh, which is tentatively titled Karthi 29.
Sardar 2 is almost in its final stages, with only patchwork remaining. At the same time, he has already completed shooting for a movie titled Vaa Vaathiyaar, directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, which will most likely hit the screens in June.
Apart from these projects, Kaithi 2 with Lokesh Kanagaraj, a sequel to Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru with H. Vinoth, an investigative thriller with Gautham Vasudev Menon, and an untitled project with Mari Selvaraj are in the pipeline.
Additionally, he has heard scripts from directors like Pa. Ranjith and Sundar C, so these projects are also likely to take off soon.
After Karthi’s jaw-dropping lineup, critics have commented that all these projects are being made with a pan-Indian appeal, making their success crucial for Karthi’s rise as a pan-Indian star from Kollywood.
All these projects look promising on paper, but whether they will deliver at the box office remains to be seen.
