Coolie, the upcoming Tamil action thriller, is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and stars Superstar Rajinikanth. The film is set for release on August 14, 2025, in both standard and IMAX formats. Buzz around the film is massive.
This is Rajinikanth’s first collaboration with Lokesh. It is also his fifth film with production house Sun Pictures. The cast includes big names like Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan.

Coolie is expected to carry Lokesh’s signature style. The focus will be on intense action and a gripping storyline. Music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander. This marks his fifth project with Rajinikanth and fourth with Lokesh.
Filming wrapped on March 17, 2025. Sun Pictures had shared behind-the-scenes moments of Lokesh directing Rajinikanth on set.

A clip featuring Anirudh is now going viral. In the video, he shares some exciting information about Coolie. He said he has seen almost the entire movie.
Anirudh called the film “ominous” and “superb.” He hinted at a fresh take on Rajinikanth’s character. This is being seen as the first review of Coolie.
