Can Amaran Director Revive Pooja Hegde’s Career?

After a series of flops, it looks like Pooja Hegde may finally be getting her big comeback. Following Beast and Retro, the actress has almost finished shooting Vijay’s final film Jana Nayagan. She is also playing the lead in Raghava Lawrence’s Kanchana 4, which was officially announced recently.

Now, a new buzz in Kollywood suggests that Pooja Hegde has joined Dhanush in director Rajkumar Periyasamy’s next film, tentatively titled D55. The director is returning after his blockbuster Amaran, which has raised massive expectations for this project. Fans feel that D55 could help Pooja Hegde regain her lost ground and prove her talent again.

However, her recent track record has been disappointing. Films like Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Retro, and Deva all failed at the box office. Even her performance in Retro—a role meant to show her acting depth went unnoticed as the film was criticized as Karthik Subbaraj’s weakest work. Her viral song Monica from Coolie initially brought her attention but later became a target of trolls after the film’s poor response.

Despite these setbacks, Pooja’s upcoming lineup looks stronger. With Jana Nayagan and Kanchana 4 on the way, and possibly D55 with Dhanush, she seems ready for a solid phase in Kollywood. Many believe that D55 could be the turning point she needs to make a strong comeback. It remains to be seen how the film shapes up and whether it gives Pooja the success she has been waiting for.
