In this context, the latest developments are suggesting that the upcoming film of Thalapathy, which is titled Jana Nayagan is going to be a big deal.

Apparently, the Tamil Nadu theatrical rights of this film and the Karnataka and Kerala rights are sold for over Rs 100 crore. The overseas rights are also valued at 70% of this hundred crore projection.

The Telugu states and North India release will reportedly be made on advance basis. The makers will hold the majority of this stake in this release as well.

Box office reports are suggesting that this film could release with a breakeven gross target of ₹400 crore. This is going to be one of the biggest financial burden on any Tamil film till date, but there is one major point working for this film now.

Fundamentally speaking, Thalapathy Vijay says this is going to be his last film before his political stint in Tamil Nadu. He is already fully involved in the political activities of his party TVK which is preparing for Tamil Nadu elections which are coming up in 2026.

The anticipation about this being the final film of Thalapathy before his political entry could make things could be very interesting.

But the issue of here is that Tamil films have very limited reach outside Tamil Nadu. So generating such a huge amount of gross is going to be a real challenge.

Apart from the conventionally strong Tamil market, the Kerala state must also contribute significantly this time.
