Atlee’s next pan-Indian movie with Allu Arjun, tentatively titled AA22, has become the talk of the town after the announcement promo was released yesterday.
According to reports, AA22 is set to be made with a massive budget of ₹700 crores, and the plot reportedly revolves around a parallel universe.
Since the promo’s release, Vijay fans have expressed disappointment on social media, commenting that if Vijay had done this as his final film, it would have been a memorable farewell for the actor.
In addition to Atlee’s project, two of the most anticipated Kollywood films—Nelson Dilipkumar’s Jailer 2 and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie—are also being produced by Sun Pictures.
All three directors—Atlee, Nelson, and Lokesh—are widely regarded as Vijay’s directors. Atlee is known for his collaborations with Vijay in Theri, Mersal, and Bigil; Lokesh Kanagaraj directed Master and Leo; and while Nelson’s Beast with Vijay was critically panned, he gained pan-Indian recognition only after Beast.
Despite Vijay stepping into politics after Jana Nayagan, his influence continues to loom large in Kollywood. Vijay fans proudly claim that he has played a key role in shaping the careers of some of the top commercial directors in the industry.
