Will Simbu Ruin Another Promising Director’s Film?

Silambarasan TR is currently awaiting the release of Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam. Simultaneously, he is also playing the lead role in a movie under the direction of Ramkumar Balakrishnan, tentatively titled STR 49.

According to reports, actor Santhanam is returning as a supporting actor in STR 49 after a long hiatus, having primarily acted in lead roles. Kayadu Lohar is also reportedly playing the female lead in this movie.

Following these updates, Silambarasan TR fans have high expectations for this movie, with some even predicting it will be a sure-shot blockbuster.

However, some social media users have commented that Ramkumar Balakrishnan’s 2023 release, Parking, was a blockbuster success, and audiences in various languages praised the director after its OTT release.

These users express concern that his collaboration with Simbu might negatively impact his career, by providing an example of Simbu’s previous collaboration with a young director, Adhik Ravichandran, for Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan (AAA) after the latter’s success with Trisha Illana Nayanthara.

AAA was a critical and commercial failure, which negatively affected Adhik Ravichandran’s career at the time. These social media users suggest that Simbu has a history of destroying the careers of talented directors.

In response, some Simbu fans are defending him, arguing that he has changed significantly and is now more focused on his acting career. They believe he will not hinder the film’s progress in STR 49.

Nevertheless, STR 49 has huge anticipation among audiences, and it remains to be seen how the movie will develop further and whether it will achieve blockbuster status after its release.
