An Air India passenger recently raised an issue with the airline’s website. The problem lies in the date selection dropdown menu, which shows errors when entering important details.
Dropdown Menu Glitch
The passenger explained that the problem occurs while selecting dates for passport expiry, visa validity, or date of birth. The dropdown displays a date one day earlier than the one actually chosen, leading to confusion during form submission.
Example of the Error
For instance, selecting 30/09/2025 in the calendar shows 29/09/2025 in the dropdown. This mismatch creates difficulties in entering accurate personal information during the booking or check-in process.
Attempts to Fix
In earlier cases, the passenger tried bypassing the glitch by selecting a day ahead. But once the form was submitted and check-in was complete, the recorded data still reflected the correct date. This inconsistency left sensitive fields like passport expiry vulnerable to errors.
Passenger Complaints
The issue was first flagged three months ago, but Air India has not fixed it yet. The delay has frustrated users who expect quick resolutions for website problems that affect travel documentation.
Possible Cause Dismissed
Some suggested that system time-zone differences caused the error. However, the passenger confirmed that the issue remains even when system and local times are aligned, ruling out time zones as a reason.
Concern for Travellers
Such unresolved glitches raise concerns about Air India’s failure to address a simple but critical UI error. For passengers, accuracy in entering personal details is essential, especially when it involves passports and visas.
