Mid-Air Violence: Alaska Flight Crew Assaulted

An Alaska Airlines flight from Portland to Dallas made an emergency diversion to Boise, Idaho, after a passenger allegedly attacked two flight attendants mid-air.

Passenger Assaults Crew Mid-Flight

About 30 minutes after takeoff, 61-year-old Tracy Barkhimer from White Salmon, Washington, reportedly struck two flight attendants who tried to calm her down.

Police Respond in Boise

The plane landed safely in Boise around 1:30 a.m. MT, where police officers met the aircraft. The assaulted crew members later filed affidavits for a citizen’s arrest.

Arrest and Release Details

Barkhimer was arrested and taken to Ada County Jail on two counts of misdemeanor battery. She was released on a $600 cash bond and is expected to appear in court in early November.

Flight Resumes After Medical Check

After a short medical check, the crew was cleared to continue. The flight took off again about 90 minutes later and reached Dallas safely.

Airline Imposes Lifetime Ban

Alaska Airlines confirmed that Barkhimer is now permanently banned from flying with the carrier.
